We could be in for a goal-fest in Sinsheim when considering recent fixtures involving either Hoffenheim or Stuttgart in 2026-27.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Not televised / USA – ESPN

How to watch online: UK – Cannot be streamed / USA – ESPN+

Hoffenheim preview: Pointless

Hoffenheim and Christian Ilzer have not had the start they would’ve wanted this season after such a successful 2025-26. They’ve found themselves on the wrong end of consecutive 3-2 scorelines, the first coming away at FC Cologne and the second against Borussia Dortmund, in which they blew a lead twice.

It’s clear that despite they excellent attacking prowess, Hoffenheim will need to tighten up significantly from a defensive perspective if results are to turn around. Especially against a notoriously strong offensive side in Stuttgart.

Stuttgart preview: Back on track

Stuttgart faced the toughest assignment of any Bundesliga team on the opening round, facing Bayern Munich. Whilst they lost heavily, they bounced back with immediate effect, thrashing FC Cologne 4-1. Since then, victory by three goals to one in the Champions League over Viking means that Stuttgart head into this game following consecutive wins.

Ermedin Demirovic has likely earned himself a start after stealing the show against Viking, scoring a hat-trick. Him and captain Deniz Undav have played together plenty of times and formed a strong partnership, so don’t be surprised if they do so again.

Hoffenheim team news: Couple of doubts

The versatile Prass is doubtful and faces a late fitness test to determine his involvement (if any) for Hoffenheim with Asllani also questionable.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Baumann; Coufal, Kabak, Hajdari, Rots; Wimmer, Avdullahu, Burger, Daghim; Lemperle, Kramaric

Unavailable:

Questionable: Asllani (Fitness), Prass (Injured)

Stuttgart team news: Tomas headlines injury list

Tiago Tomas is perhaps one of the most notable names among those missing for Stuttgart, whilst both Assignon and Jaquez are doubts.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Bredlow; Vagnomam, Jeltsch, Chabot, Mittelstadt; Promel, Stiller; El Khannouss; Undav, Fuhrich; Demirovic

Unavailable: Arevalo (Injured), Diehl (Injured), Nartey (Injured), Seimen (Injured), Tomas (Injured), Zagadou (Injured)

Questionable: Assignon (Injured), Jaquez (Injured)

Hoffenheim vs Stuttgart prediction

It’s hard not to see there being a goal glut in this encounter when you consider recent results of fixtures involving each of these two clubs in all competitions. Hoffenheim have given up six goals across two league games, but scored twice in each of those whilst Stuttgart are yet to keep a clean sheet aside from their DFB-Pokal match vs lower-league opposition.

Plenty of chances at both ends are expected with defending unlikely to be at the highest standard on either side. Stuttgart may boast seven goals already over this past week but Hoffenheim at home still pose a big attacking threat, so backing both teams to score in a high-scorer represents the smart play.

Hoffenheim vs Stuttgart tip: Over 3.5 goals and both teams to score
