Hamad Medjedovic vs Brandon Nakashima prediction

Hamad Medjedovic’s poor form continued at the Shanghai Masters, with an opening round loss to Thiago Agustin Tirante in straight sets. That was his sixth defeat in seven matches. Medjedovic has not advanced to a quarter-final since the Italian Open back in May. His clay court season was his best form of the year by quite some distance, highlighted by a run from qualifying to the semi-finals in Barcelona. 

He faces Brandon Nakashima in the first-round. The American’s form has dropped off considerably since his productive August, which saw him reach his first Masters 1000 final at the Canadian Open, and advance to the semi-finals in Cincinnati. Aside from a Laver Cup singles win, Nakashima has lost four of his last six matches.

The head-to-head is tied at 1-1, with Nakashima winning their last meeting at the Almaty Open last year in straight sets. The 26-year-old has enjoyed the better season, and he will be expected to come out on top against his out-of-form opponent.
