David Goffin vs Remy Bertola prediction

David Goffin will be competing in the final event of his career at the European Open. The 35-year-old reached a career best of number seven in the world back in 2017, the highest of any Belgian male player in history. One of the highlights of his career was at that year’s ATP Tour Finals, as he beat Dominic Thiem, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer en route to the final, where he lost to Grigor Dimitrov. He won six ATP titles and progressed to four major quarter-finals in total.

He has just two wins from 13 matches in 2026, but he will hope to extend his career by at least one more match when he plays Remy Bertola. The Swiss defeated Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in his first qualifying match but then lost to Federico Cina in three sets. Nevertheless, he enters the main draw as a lucky loser after Holger Rune's withdrawal.

Goffin will hope to perform strongly in front of a home crowd, and that may inject a boost in his performance. However, Bertola’s steady game should allow him to remain very competitive throughout.
