Girona preview: Going back to the old guys

Welcoming Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis side to the capital city last week, Atleti dispatched of the Andalusians by four goals to one with Julian Alvarez notching a brace, including an excellent free-kick, as well as strikes from Robin Le Normand and Angel Correa.

They have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch in La Liga in the last few years but the Catalans became more defensive to ensure La Liga status. They do now, though, come into this one on the back of a 3-2 loss against Real Sociedad. Despite Diego Simeone’s desire, Atletico have a fun and entertaining squad and, just like last week, have the potential to play some good football so both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one in Catalonia.
