Having been one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe for a while while at Lille, where he hit double figures in all five of his seasons in Ligue 1, Jonathan David experienced a tougher time of it in Serie A after joining Italian giants Juventus. David, competing with the likes of Lois Openda and Dusan Vlahovic up-front, was on the periphery in Turin but it was a forgettable season for the Bianconeri and one he will seek to put behind him this summer as he spearheads a first home FIFA World Cup for Canada, having raced to become their all-time leading scorer.
