Expected to miss the opening game of FIFA World Cup 2026 due to injury, Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies will remain a key man for co-hosts Canada as the tournament goes on. Capable of sparking an attack from defence like no other player when at his best, Davies could be essential in assisting his country to go deep at a tournament they have built towards for a very long time. The 25-year-old 2020 UEFA Champions League winner scored his country’s first ever FIFA World Cup goal in 2022 when he notched against Croatia and will seek to carry that pedigree through into this summer.
