Jose Mourinho could do with a performance in the UEFA Europa League as his Fenerbahce side now welcome an entertaining, albeit not recently, Olympique Lyonnais side to Istanbul.

Fenerbahce vs Lyon Prediction

Chasing down Galatasaray was always going to be a tough test for Fenerbahce and things have proven difficult for Jose Mourinho as they now face a wildly inconsistent Lyon side.

Fener managed a 4-0 annihilation of Adana Demirspor in the Turkish Super Lig at the weekend but they remain six points adrift of Gala at the top-of-the-table. In the UEFA Europa League, they sit just about tucked inside the top 24 and the knockout playoff spots with just two victories in their six league phase matches.

Pierre Sage and Olympique Lyonnais, facing administrative relegation in Ligue 1, have won four and drawn one of their six UEFA Europa League matches but have returned from the French winter break with some underwhelming results. A defeat to Brest and a draw with Toulouse have sandwiched a Coupe de France defeat to fifth-tier Bourgoin-Jallieu.

Fenerbahce, with home advantage, will seek to try and play with an intensity that is not commonly associated with a Jose Mourinho team. They face a Lyon side that are usually entertaining to watch and both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one in Istanbul.
