Espanyol preview: Can stay up

In the second-half of this season, Espanyol had been brilliant under the management of former B team coach Manolo Gonzalez but they have now been dragged into a position where they could be relegated on the final day of the season if they lose and Leganes win.

Leganes are at home to one of the weakest sides in modern La Liga history, Real Valladolid, so Espanyol are likely to have to win at the RCDE Stadium. Their 2-0 loss to Osasuna last weekend means they have now suffered five successive defeats.

Las Palmas preview: Frustrated Canarians

Las Palmas were winless in mid-October and appointed former Granada boss Diego Martinez to propel them towards the middle-of-the-table before an outright collapse in the second-half of the season whereby they have managed just two victories in the calendar year of 2025.

The Canary Islanders come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat to the aforementioned Leganes at Estadio Gran Canaria to make it five successive losses since back-to-back victories against Getafe and Atletico Madrid in mid-April.

Espanyol team news: Kumbulla suspended

As they head into the final day of the season with the visit of Las Palmas, Espanyol are without defender Marash Kumbulla, who is missing through suspension. Fellow defender Brian Olivan is also a doubt for the Catalans this weekend.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Joan Garcia; El Hilali, Leandro Cabrera, Fernando Calero, Carlos Romero; Urko Gonzalez, Pol Lozano; Alex Roca, Edu Exposito, Javi Puado; Roberto Fernandez

Unavailable: Kumbulla (Suspended)

Questionable: Brian Olivan (Injured)

Las Palmas team news: Jose Campana suspended

Las Palmas head into the final week of the campaign with midfielder Jose Campana now missing through suspension for the visitors, whilst Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Fabio Silva remains unavailable due to a hamstring injury.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Horkas; Viti, Juanma Herzog, McKenna, Alex Munoz; Park, Loiodice, Essugo, Alberto Moleiro; Manu Fuster, McBurnie

Unavailable: Kirian Rodriguez (Illness), Jose Campana (Suspended), Silva (Injured)

Questionable: Stefan Bajcetic (Injured)

Espanyol vs Las Palmas prediction

Espanyol need to quickly rediscover the form that had moved them almost completely clear of relegation and it is almost hard to believe that the Catalans have now drifted back towards the relegation battle. They now face a Las Palmas side, though, that have been underwhelming throughout the season and need a rebuild ahead of their return to the second-tier. Espanyol should get the win that sees them safe, albeit it is expected to be a low-scoring encounter.

Espanyol vs Las Palmas tip: Espanyol to win & under 3.5 goals
