Both these two sides are coming off the back of excellent victories last time out, so the stage is set for a good game between Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg.

Eintracht Frankfurt preview: First win on the board

It had been a slow start to the season for Eintracht Frankfurt, but they got up and running on the road, winning 1-3 away to Mainz in a clinical performance to take themselves to four points. That puts them safely in mid-table with the potential to move towards those European spots at apace.

Eintracht defended extremely well in that game, stifling Mainz’s frontline and showing a much-needed cutting edge in front of goal. If they can replicate that here, then they stand a good chance against an in-form opponent.

Freiburg preview: Dominant at home

Returning to the Black Forest, Freiburg were on top of the game from the very beginning as they put Borussia Monchengladbach to the sword, moving top of the Bundesliga table with a 5-0 win that made it nine points from nine for them so far this season and boosted their goal difference significantly.

Not only have Julian Schuster’s men scored the most goals in the German top flight heading into this round of fixtures with ten overall, they have also conceded the least, giving up just one goal overall back on the opening weekend against Werder Bremen.

Eintracht Frankfurt team news: Three injuries

Eintracht Frankfurt will have to make do with Knauff, Maluze and Ngankam, all of whom are out injured. They could yet be joined on the treatment table by Oscar Hojlund as well.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Atubolu; Koch, Otavio, Brassier; Baum, Aseko, Onyedika, Kosugi; Doan, Burkardt, Uzun

Unavailable: Knauff (Injured), Maluze (Injured), Ngankam (Injured)

Questionable: Hojlund (Injured)

Freiburg team news: Only one absentee

Freiburg may well opt for the same starting XI as we saw from them last time out, with Muslija the only confirmed miss for Julian Schuster.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Backhaus; Treu, Ginter, Lienhart, Makengo; Eggestein, Engelhardt; Beste, Suzuki, Scherhant; Matanovic

Unavailable: Muslija (Injured)

Questionable:

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Freiburg prediction

Freiburg have form in their favour and have been playing more consistently well compared to their opponents. But Eintracht Frankfurt are at home and have gained some new-found confidence after what we saw from them in Mainz. That sets the table for what is likely to be a close game between two strong teams.

It’s hard to ignore how impressive Mainz have been both in and out of possession, not to mention at both ends of the pitch whether it be attack or defence. It’s hard to see this backline being defeated right now and utilising the double chance market looks a good play, backing the visitors to pick up something in Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Freiburg tip: Double chance - draw/Freiburg
