Diane Parry vs Donna Vekic Prediction
2024 was undoubtedly Diane Parry’s best year on tour in her young career with the 22-year-old featuring in several WTA 1000 events for the first time, notably reaching the last 16 at Indian Wells in March.
Hard courts are clearly her favoured surface, and she reached the third round of the Australian Open for the first time last year. Parry hasn’t been in competitive action on the WTA circuit since October though, so her form is something of an unknown heading into the first round.
Last year was also a fruitful one for Donna Vekic. Although she didn’t claim any titles, she did reach the semi-finals at Wimbledon – her first time in the last four at a Grand Slam – and claimed a sliver medal at the Paris Olympics.
However, the Croatian seed failed to win a match at either the United Cup or the Adelaide International recently, so there are one or two question marks around her Australian Open prospects.
With Parry largely inactive over the last couple of months and Vekic seemingly below her best, this could be a nervy affair with neither player dominating. Therefore, we’re predicting this to go to a deciding set.
