The Congo have been comfortably the weakest in a five-team Group E, as they now take on a reasonable Tanzania side at Stade Alphonse Massemba-Debat this weekend.

Key Stats

  • Congo are without a win in a World Cup qualifying match since a 2-1 victory against Ethiopia in November 2015.
  • None of Tanzania’s last 27 World Cup qualifying matches finished without a goal being scored.

Congo vs Tanzania Prediction

In Group E of CAF qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Eritrea had to withdraw before the tournament and that has limited the competitiveness of that group. The Congo have lost all five of their qualifiers thus far, with two goals scored and 19 conceded. They now face a Tanzanian side that have managed three victories with two defeats in their five matches as they sit six points behind group leaders Morocco with three games to go for both sides.

Tanzania are seeking to ensure a top two spot this week, but they do sit just three points ahead of both Zambia and Niger, with the latter also having a game in hand on the Tanzanians ahead of this one.

The expectation is for a low-scoring affair with the two sides having scored just seven goals between them, albeit Tanzania remain the firm favourites for this one.

Congo vs Tanzania Tip: Tanzania to win & under 3.5 goals
