Burnley have been competitive this season but remain one of the teams most likely to fall back through the Premier League trapdoor as they welcome Chelsea to Lancashire.

Burnley preview: Solid Burnley

Burnley begin the return to Premier League action sitting outside of the bottom three and the relegation places, albeit they have still suffered seven defeats from their opening 11 matches with Scott Parker’s very defensive and reactive style of football.

The Clarets headed into the break on the back of a 3-2 defeat to a similarly struggling West Ham United at the London Stadium a couple of weeks ago, despite taking a first-half lead via Zian Flemming in the capital city.

Chelsea preview: Faltering Chelsea

Enzo Maresca and his Chelsea side can often flatter deceive and the Blues are capable of putting in supreme performances, but they are far too inconsistent. That said, they are the ‘best of the rest’ ahead of this weekend, behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Blues managed to ease themselves to a comfortable victory against then manager-less Wolverhampton Wanderers a couple of weeks ago, courtesy of goals from Malo Gusto, Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto at Stamford Bridge.

Burnley team news: Broja could be back

Scott Parker brought good news for Burnley fans to his pre-match press conference with former Chelsea striker Armando Broja having not sustained as serious an injury as first feared and he could even be available for this one.

The Clarets do remain without defensive duo Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts along fellow longer term absentee Switzerland international striker Zeki Amdouni.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Dubravka; Laurent, Tuanzebe, Esteve; Walker, Cullen, Luis, Hartman; Anthony, Foster, Tchaouna

Unavailable: Beyer (Injured), Roberts (Injured), Amdouni (Injured)

Questionable: Broja (Injured)

Chelsea team news: No Palmer but Fernandez & Neto are fit

Cole Palmer was due to be back soon but Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the England international suffered an 'accident at home' to mean he will miss at least the next three matches against Burnley, Barcelona and Arsenal.

The Blues were sweating on the fitness of Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto but they are both now available alongside French centre-back Benoit Badiashile.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, James; Neto, Fernandez, Garnacho; Pedro

Unavailable: Colwill (Injured), Lavia (Injured), Essugo (Injured), Palmer (Injured), Mudryk (Disciplinary)

Questionable:

Burnley vs Chelsea prediction

Burnley will head into this one on the back of some frustrating results. Scott Parker has endured his fair share of heartache this season, with a couple of last gasp defeats. Chelsea will head to Turf Moor with the expectation being that they completely dominate the ball but breaking Burnley down is quite a tough test. Chelsea should edge themselves to victory, but it may be a test of patience for the visitors, as well as for the neutral in terms of the excitement level.

Burnley vs Chelsea tip: Chelsea to win & under 3.5 goals
