Brighton Preview: Soaring Seagulls

After suffering a 7-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last month, the pressure was growing on young coach Fabian Hurzeler but the former St Pauli boss has seemingly turned things around as Brighton and Hove Albion push back up the table.

The Seagulls have now enjoyed five successive victories across all competitions with a win in the cup against Chelsea as well as three league wins followed by a 2-1 defeat of Newcastle United after extra-time in the fifth round of the FA Cup at St James’ Park last weekend.

Fulham Preview: Famous win for Fulham

Marco Silva’s Fulham are also pushing for a top seven or eight, or possibly even nine, place finish in the Premier League and therefore potential European qualification with three victories in their last four matches in the league ahead of this one.

The Cottagers come into this one on the back of a famous victory over Manchester United in the cup at Old Trafford last week. After taking a first-half lead, they were then taken to penalties by the Red Devils but two Bernd Leno saves provided a 4-3 shootout victory for Silva’s side.

Brighton Team News: Mitoma fine but Lamptey out

Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed that Japan international attacker Kaoru Mitoma is 'fine' for this weekend after suffering from cramp in the cup last weekend. They will, though, be without Ghana international full-back Tariq Lamptey, who is suspended having been sent off in that match.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Van Hecke, Cashin, Webster, Estupinan; Hinshelwood, Baleba; Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma; Welbeck

Unavailable: Steele (Injured), Dunk (Injured), Igor (Injured), Veltman (Injured), Kadioglu (Injured), Lamptey (Suspended), Milner (Injured), O'Riley (Injured)

Fulham Team News: Adama doubt & Lukic suspended

Ahead of this weekend's trip down to the south coast, Adama Traore has had to train alone and will also have to be assessed before the game. They are without Serbia international midfielder Sasa Lukic due to suspension due to an accumulation of too many yellow cards for a second time this season.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Pereira, Berge; Iwobi, Smith Rowe, Willian; Jimenez

Unavailable: Tete (Injured), Lukic (Suspended), Wilson (Injured), Nelson (Injured)

Questionable: Traore (Injured)

Brighton vs Fulham Prediction

Brighton and Hove Albion have continued from Roberto De Zerbi to Hurzeler to try and dominate the ball with a progressive style of football, although Hurzeler’s issues in the first-half of the campaign came as a result of a lack of cohesion in the final third. At the moment, though, that is not currently an issue. They face a Fulham side that can be pragmatic when they want to be and playing on the counter-attack with some speed going forward would appear useful at the AMEX Stadium so both teams scoring would appear a good value bet for this one down on the south coast.
