Borussia Monchengladbach preview: Ten men outclassed
Borussia Monchengladbach failed to lay a glove on Freiburg in their last game and came away from the Black Forest with their tails between their legs having been battered by five goals to nil. Striker Tim Kleindienst was sent off, making their job even harder. In the end, class told as Freiburg added three more goals to leave Gladbach as one of just two clubs in the Bundesliga still without a point after three games.
Mainz preview: Lack of conviction
Nadiem Amiri’s penalty miss felt like a turning point for Mainz against Eintracht Frankfurt and indeed it was. Borussia Monchengladbach vs Mainz prediction
Both teams desperately need a win, which could lead to this becoming an entertaining encounter. Neither will want to put too much emphasis on defence, with more potency going forward key for either side to come away from this one with three points. Especially from Borussia Monchengladbach’s point of view, with them being at home and still without a point.
Mainz will have to deal with some heavy offensive pressure from their opponents, but they should gain a number of chances themselves, particularly on the counter attack. With that in mind, a shrewd move may well be backing both teams to score.
