Borussia Dortmund preview: Champions League success
Borussia Dortmund turned their attention to Champions League action in midweek, specifically Villarreal in their opening league phase encounter. After taking the lead, Niko Kovac’s side were pegged back by the Spaniards before the introduction of Fabio Silva changed the game for Dortmund.
The Portuguese forward set up Serhou Guirassy for the go-ahead goal before Guirassy scored again from the penalty spot to seal victory. But Dortmund’s attacking threat was low until Silva’s introduction. He was outstanding both on and off the ball and showed signs of developing a fruitful relationship with main man Guirassy.
Paderborn preview: One point
Paderborn only have a point to their name so far after two rounds of Bundesliga fixtures. That point came in a 0-0 draw against Mainz on the road. Since then, they’ve suffered defeat to Freiburg by a single goal and are therefore yet to score this season in the league, something that will need to be rectified.
However, Paderborn were victorious in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, defeating lower-league side Phonix Lubeck in an entertaining contest. In the end, it was the top flight side who came out on top by four goal to two.
Borussia Dortmund team news: Silva to start
After an excellent cameo off the bench in the Champions League, Fabio Silva should start for the hosts, as should Ethan Nwaneri with Karetsas not available.
Predicted XI (3-4-3): Kobel; Gadou, Anton, Bensebaini; Ryerson, Nmecha, Veerman, Svensson; Nwaneri, Guirassy, Silva
Unavailable: Can (Injured), Inacio (Suspended), Karetsas (Illness), Konstantelias (Injured), Lerma (Injured), Mane (Injured)

Paderborn team news: Klaas could miss out
Paderborn are already without up to four players and will check on the fitness of Sebastian Klaas ahead of kickoff, who is battling a groin problem.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Noll; Ter Horst, Scheller, Hansen; Curda, Ulrich, Castaneda, Vidovic, Obermair; Philippe, Pieringer
Unavailable: Awortwie-Grant (Injured), Eickel (Injured), Gayret (Injured), Michel (Injured)
Questionable: Klaas (Injured)
Borussia Dortmund vs Paderborn prediction
Borussia Dortmund will be very happy with the start they’ve made this season despite losing some big players and should dominate much of proceedings against a Paderborn team without a win to their name. Should Fabio Silva and Ethan Nwaneri start, then the pair add a different and arguably more dangerous dimension to this Dortmund offence.
It would be a big surprise if the hosts did not come away with victory against a far inferior opponent in Paderborn. The smart move would be to back not only that, but also for Serhou Guirassy to continue his excellent form with another goal.
