Besiktas vs Shakhtar Donetsk prediction

Now under the management of former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Besiktas improved in the second-half of the Turkish Super Lig last season. They will also believe that Solskjaer’s counter-attacking style of football will benefit them in terms of attempting to go deep into a UEFA competition this season.

Due to lots of off-field issues, Shakhtar Donetsk underperformed last season and ended up third in the Ukrainian Premier League. However, they have a squad still certainly very strong for this stage of this competition. They hammered Ilves Tampere by six goals to nil in the first-leg, before a goalless draw in the second-leg with a heavily changed side.

Besiktas will believe they can get on the front foot against a young Shakhtar side that also pose a threat going forward, so this may well be entertaining for the neutral.

Besiktas vs Shakhtar Donetsk tip: Both teams to score
