Benfica vs St Gallen prediction

St Gallen produced a surprise win in the first-leg of this UEFA Europa League second qualifying round tie as they defeated Benfica by two goals to one at Kybunpark in Switzerland. Aliou Balde opened the scoring for the Swiss before Rafa Silva equalised but then St Gallen snatched a first-leg advantage via Tom Gaal in the second half.

Benfica, now under the management of Marco Silva after the departure of Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid, are under immense pressure to go deep in Europe this season and they have got off to a poor start as they welcome a St Gallen side that have punched above their weight to Estadio da Luz on Thursday.

Even though they begin the second-leg behind, Benfica surely have to be favoured to progress as they now get St Gallen back to Lisbon.
