Bayern Munich preview: Road hiccups
Bayern Munich haven’t been anyway near the best away from Allianz Arena so far this season in the Bundesliga. Having been held to a goalless draw by Schalke 04, another newly promoted opponent gave them a run for their money last Sunday. It looked like becoming a long afternoon for SV Elversberg after Lennart Karl put Bayern ahead in the first-half.
But the hosts rallied and Vincent Kompany’s side were stunned when Elversberg levelled just after the hour mark. Harry Kane had the final word though, securing a 1-2 win for the champions and moving them up to fourth in the Bundesliga table. They remain unbeaten in all competitions this season.
Union Berlin preview: Still without a win
Three rounds of Bundesliga fixtures have now passed and Union Berlin are still yet to win a league game. They’ve picked up just a single point, that coming against Eintracht Frankfurt but since then, back-to-back defeats have significantly stunted their progress as the backline continues to leak goals in bulk.
Only two clubs have conceded more than Union’s ten goals after three games and a 1-3 home loss last time out to Schalke 04 perfectly sums up their recent struggles. A tough evening is in store for them here and first-choice goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow will have to be at his absolute best.
Bayern Munich team news: Champions League attack
Vincent Kompany could revert to the same attacking quartet that put Bodo/Glimt to the sword in the Champions League. That means a return to the XI for Jamal Musiala and Luis Diaz after both started on the bench against Elversberg.

Back at the Allianz Arena, we shouldn’t see Bayern Munich run into the same sort of difficulties that they’ve faced in their last two league fixtures, both of which were away from home. They’ll dominate possession but you would expect the Rekordmeister to wind up being more clinical on their own patch, especially against an opponent who have shipped four goals across their most recent two games.
One player in particular who could find himself back on the scoresheet is Michael Olise. The Frenchman boasts three goals across Bayern’s two home fixtures in all competitions so far this season and has racked up five goals in six appearances overall. Expect him to score again over the course of this one in what should be a comfortable Bayern victory.
