Auxerre preview: Big win last week

Having kept themselves safe from relegation in the two seasons following their promotion under Christophe Pelissier, Auxerre moved on to former Southampton boss Will Still over the summer and he would have been feeling the pressure before last week.

After three defeats to kick off the campaign in which they conceded 11 goals, Auxerre managed to edge past Nice by a goal to nil last weekend courtesy of a 74th minute winner scored by Southampton loanee Cameron Archer.

Brest preview: Competitive Brest

Eric Roy passed away over the summer and has been replaced in charge of Stade Brest by his assistant coach Julien Lachuer, who is instilling a similar level of punching above their weight with Stade Brest.

Having collected five points from their opening three matches, Brest did suffer their first defeat last weekend in a hard-fought 1-0 defeat to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain due to an early winner scored by Ferran Torres.

Auxerre team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for Auxerre to deal with, with key defenders Bryan Okoh and Marvin Senaya remaining sidelined for the hosts.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Diop; Makosso, Tuanzebe, Akpa; Sy, Piedfort, Danois, Oppegard; Loader, Archer, Labeau Lascary

Unavailable: Okoh (Injured), Senaya (Injured), Siwe (Injured), Diousse (Injured)

Questionable: Fofana (Injured)

Brest team news: Couple of fresh issues

Brest are dealing with a couple of fresh injury issues as Noah Edjouma is sidelined due to a hamstring injury with Mama Balde also a doubt for the visitors.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Selvik; Lala, Lloris, Le Guen, Locko; Chotard, Magnetti; Versini, Doumbia, Mboup; Ajorque

Unavailable: Chardonnet (Injured), Edjouma (Injured)

Questionable: Cagnon (Injured), Diambou (Injured), Balde (Injured)

Auxerre vs Brest prediction

Brest have been very solid throughout the opening four matches of the campaign, replicating their form in which they have perennially overachieved in the last few years. Auxerre will believe last weekend is a new template from which to build on with more defensive solidity and a low-scoring encounter wouldn’t be too surprising as both sides perhaps accept simply avoiding defeat here.

Auxerre vs Brest tip: Under 2.5 goals
