AC Milan preview: Conceicao is off
Former Porto boss Sergio Conceicao took charge of AC Milan at the turn of the year and they managed to win the Supercoppa Italiana in his first two games, as well as reaching the final of the Coppa Italia but they have been generally underwhelming throughout his short tenure.
As the Rossoneri head into the final day on the back of a 3-1 loss to Roma at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend a few days after losing the cup final to Bologna at the Olimpico, Milan now have no chance of securing European football in Serie A.
Monza preview: Rock-bottom Monza
Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta was appointed Monza boss after a disappointing stint in charge of Reggiana last summer and he was then sacked during the winter break before returning after Salvatore Bocchetti’s one-month spell in charge of the club.
They have been rock-bottom throughout the campaign and their relegation to Serie B was confirmed about a month ago as the Lombardy-based outfit come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Empoli at Stadio Brianteo last weekend.
AC Milan team news: Santiago Gimenez suspended
Mexico international striker Santiago Gimenez, who joined from PSV Eindhoven in January as one of many new signings in the winter transfer window, is missing through suspension on the final day. Other winter additions, Kyle Walker and Warren Bondo, are doubts, too.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Alex Jimenez, Fofana, Reijnders, Terracciano; Pulisic, Leao; Jovic
Unavailable: Santiago Gimenez (Suspended)
Questionable: Walker (Injured), Hernandez (Injured), Bondo (Injured), Chukwueze (Injured)
Monza team news: Several doubts
Monza are dealing with several injury doubts ahead of their trip to San Siro this weekend with defenders Armando Izzo and Danilo D’Ambrosio expected to be sidelined alongside the likes of Roberto Gagliardini and former Manchester United attacker Omari Forson.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Pizzignacco; Carboni, Brorsson, Palacios; Birindelli, Zeroli, Bianco, Akpa-Akpro, Kyriakopoulos; Balde, Caprari
Unavailable: Pessina (Injured)
Questionable: Izzo (Injured), D’Ambrosio (Injured), Gagliardini (Injured), Ganvoula (Injured), Forson (Injured)
AC Milan vs Monza prediction
Even though AC Milan can still finish seventh this season, the fact that Bologna won the Coppa Italia means that they have secured one of the two UEFA Europa League spots and seventh is no longer good enough, if Bologna finish outside of the top eight. They face a Monza side that have collected just 18 points and managed just three victories in their 37 matches this season. Milan should in comfortably, even with nothing to play for.
