Zambia preview: Steady Zambians
After a difficult couple of years, Zambia finally took the decision to part company with former Chelsea boss Avram Grant a couple of months ago, and it has been a steady start to the reign of Zambian manager Moses Sichone.
In their opening game of the tournament, a strong but often wasteful Mali side missed a penalty but still took the lead against Zambia, before Leicester City striker Patson Daka notched a second-half stoppage-time equaliser for the Zambians.
Comoros preview: Average Comoros
Having reached the round of 16 of the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in 2022, their first and still only ever major international tournament, Comoros are back to try and spring some more surprises in Morocco.
It was a tough start the other day as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to the host nation and pre-tournament favourites, the Moroccans, in Rabat, due to goals from Real Madrid man Brahim Diaz and Olympiacos striker Ayoub El Kaabi.
Zambia team news: Sunzu remains a doubt
Lecce midfielder Lameck Banda was poor the other day and so could be dropped, but that remains unlikely, while Stoppila Sunzu missed their opener due to illness.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Mwanza; M. Banda, B. Sakala, Chanda, L. Musonda; Kangwa, Chaiwa, Tembo; L. Banda, Daka, F. Sakala
Unavailable:
Questionable: Sunzu (Illness)
Comoros team news: No need to change
There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for Comoros for this one and so they could name an unchanged eleven as they take on Zambia in their second game.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Pandor; Toibibou, Soilihi, Kari, Boura; B. Youssouf, Z. Youssouf, Mohamed, Selemani; M’Changama, Said

Zambia vs Comoros prediction
The expanded AFCON allows for four of the six best third placed teams to go through. Patson Daka’s goal against Mali means that a Zambian victory here will likely, as a result, almost inevitably in fact, see them through and into the knockout stages. Comoros were awkward to play against for Morocco and Zambia, with much less talent, will also likely struggle in what is expected to be a low-scoring encounter.
Zambia vs Comoros tip: Under 2.5 goals
