Yannick Hanfmann vs Valentin Vacherot prediction
Yannick Hanfmann began his Swiss Open campaign with a straight sets win over Pedro Martinez. The German, who reached the final of this event nine years ago, saved a set point in the first set tiebreak as he reeled off the final three points to take a crucial lead. That proved to be pivotal, as Hanfmann won the final six games to complete a 7-6 (6) 6-1 win.
He will now face Valentin Vacherot in the round-of-16. This will be the Monegasque’s first appearance on the tour since withdrawing from Roland Garros at the end of May. Vacherot has been out of action with a stress fracture in his left foot, and he was unable to compete at Wimbledon. His best result of the campaign was a brilliant run to the semi-finals of his home event in Monte-Carlo.
Vacherot will be significantly short of match sharpness, and Hanfmann must be viewed as the favourite to go through.
