Dayana Yastremska vs Katie Volynets prediction

Dayana Yastemska qualified in Guangzhou after wins over Xiaodi You and Emerson Jones. She failed to do the same in Ningbo last week, losing to Kamilla Rakhimova. It’s been a disappointing season for the Ukrainian, with zero WTA quarter-finals in 2026. Her best result was last month in Beijing, as she won two matches to advance to the third-round. However, she failed to reach the round-of-16 after losing to Sinja Kraus. 

Katie Volynets is her first-round opponent. The eighth seed was also unable to qualify for the Ningbo Open after retiring against Katarzyna Kawa. Volynets began her Asian swing with a run to the quarter-finals of the Korea Open, before following that up with two second-round appearances in Beijing and Wuhan. Her highlight of the season was a WTA 125 title in Philadelphia.

The head-to-head is tied at 1-1 with Yastremska winning their last match in Brisbane last year. Volynets has been the more solid and consistent performer throughout 2026, and she is favoured to win.
