Wolves preview: Change at Wolves
Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters will be concerned that they are circling the drain for the last few years and they were rock-bottom in mid-December last season before the appointment of Vitor Pereira, who did an extremely impressive job at Molineux.
Pereira now has his work cut out to continue the job he did, though, after Wolves have lost another set of key players this summer with Nelson Semedo leaving on a free transfer, whilst both Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha have been sold on.
Man City preview: Overhaul of City
Manchester City embarked upon a very busy January transfer window, before then bringing in several new signings before the start of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, with Sverre Nypan and James Trafford also moving since the conclusion of that tournament.
It is something of a revolution at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola needing to turn things around after an underwhelming, and yet still decent by anyone else’s standards, campaign last year, with the 115 financial charges hanging over them.
Wolves team news: A few injuries
It is believed that the only new injury is Leon Chiwone being sidelined alongside defender Yerson Mosquera and likely departing striker Fabio Silva.
Wolves will hope Colombia international striker Jhon Arias can make an impact after joining, but it is unknown as to whether he will be thrown into the start.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Sa; Doherty, S. Bueno, Agbadou; Hoever, Andre, J. Gomes, Wolfe; Munetsi, Bellegarde; Strand Larsen
Unavailable: Mosquera (Injured), Chiwone (Injured), Silva (Injured)
Questionable:
Man City team news: Rodri setback
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Croatia international defender Josko Gvardiol is sidelined for this weekend alongside his compatriot, Mateo Kovacic.
Rodri has suffered a muscle injury setback so is also unavailable for the opener, whilst Phil Foden is also a doubt for City.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Trafford; Lewis, Dias, Ake, Ait-Nouri; Gonzalez, Reijnders; Cherki, Silva, Marmoush; Haaland
Unavailable: Gvardiol (Injured), Rodri, (Injured), Kovacic (Injured), Echeverri (Injured), Savinho (Injured)
Questionable: Gvardiol (Injured), Foden (Injured)
Wolves vs Man City prediction
Vitor Pereira majorly improved Wolverhampton Wanderers last season, but they have made a few changes over the summer and there could well be a reasonable argument made that they have been circling the drain in the Premier League for a while and this could be a tough campaign. City have a lot of work to do and it may well be that they continue to struggle or find things tough, but they remain firm favourites to win comfortably at Molineux.
