It is an absolutely must win game for a woeful Wolverhampton Wanderers side as the rock-bottom Wolves welcome an out of form Brentford to Molineux for this one.

Wolves preview: Woeful Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been woeful at the start of this season, having collected just two points from their 16 matches so far with Rob Edwards struggling to fin any sort of improvement since his controversial move from Middlesbrough.

They did put in a more solid performance against league leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last week, with a 90th minute Tolu Arokodare equaliser then made more or less irrelevant by a 94th minute Yerson Mosquera own goal.

Brentford preview: Bumbling Bees

After a tumultuous summer transfer window, Brentford were expected to struggle following the appointment of Keith Andrews. They have perhaps been better than those expectations but the Bees are now beginning to regress.

Their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the quarter-finals in the EFL Cup in midweek means that the Bees have now managed just one victory in their last six matches across all competitions, with that one win coming against a poor Burnley side.

Wolves team news: Mosquera suspended

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Johnstone; Doherty, S. Bueno, Toti; Tchatchoua, J. Gomes, Andre, Wolfe; Hwang, Arias; Strand Larsen

Unavailable: Bentley (Injured), Agbadou (International duty), Mosquera (Suspended), H. Bueno (Injured), Munetsi (Injured), Chirewa (International duty), Chiwone (Injured), R. Gomes (Injured), Bellegarde (Injured)

Questionable:

Brentford team news: Henderson & Thiago doubtful

In midweek, Keith Andrews received criticism for leaving both Jordan Henderson and Igor Thiago out of the squad for the clash with Newcastle in the cup but the manager has now confirmed that the pair are both injury doubts for this one, and it wasn't simply due to rest.

Kevin Schade was missing through suspension last week but is now available for this one but they have lost fellow attacker Dango Ouattara, who is away at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations with the Burkina Faso.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Kayode, Van den Berg, Collins, Henry; Henderson, Yarmolyuk; Lewis-Potter, Damsgaard, Schade; Thiago

Unavailable: Milambo (Injured), Dasilva (Injured), Onyeka (International duty), Carvalho (Injured), Ouattara (International duty)

Questionable: Henderson (Injured), Nelson (Fitness), Thiago (Injured)

Wolves vs Brentford prediction

It is expected to be a low-scoring encounter. Brentford’s best comes on the counter-attack and in transition, but if Wolves can emulate last weekend then that won’t be on offer. It is a poor Wolves side but they should feel confident that a win should come here – because if it doesn’t, then there will be questions as to whether it ever will this season. They may get their first win of the campaign but it won’t be pretty.

Wolves vs Brentford tip: Wolves to win & under 3.5 goals
