Valencia preview: Ignoring off-field issues

Former West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan did an excellent job in charge of Valencia last season, as Los Che pushed themselves into the middle-of-the-table despite off-field issues causing them to be in a relegation battle mid-way through.

The Valencians come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad at Mestalla on the opening day of the campaign, before going down to ten men early on at El Sadar away to Osasuna, and succumbing to a 1-0 loss to the Pamplona-based outfit.

Getafe preview: Solid Getafe

Getafe begin the third match day of the campaign with a 100% record after an excellent start to the season, with Jose Bordalas’ side perhaps unearthing a star in Adrian Liso, who has scored three goals in his first two senior first-team appearances.

Getafe began their campaign with a 2-0 defeat of a Celta Vigo side that qualified for Europe at the Coliseum on the opening day, before they then managed to defeat Sevilla by two goals to one in Andalusia, courtesy of an Adrian Liso brace.

Valencia team news: Jose Luis Gaya suspended

Sergi Canos had been linked with a move away but he is now out injured, whilst club captain left-back Jose Luis Gaya is missing through suspension for this weekend.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Julen Agirrezabala; Foulquier, Carlos Tarrega, Copete, Cumart; Luis Rioja, Javi Guerra, Pepelu, Diego Lopez; Danjuma, Dani Raba

Unavailable: Correia (Injured), Jose Luis Gaya (Suspended), Sergi Canos (Injured)

Getafe team news: Eligibility issues

Ahead of their trip to Mestalla, Getafe are dealing with a couple of key, but unconfirmed absentees, as both Abdel Abqar and Kiko Femenia are yet to be registered for Getafe.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): David Soria; Djene, Domingos Duarte, Diego Rico; Juan Iglesias, Mario Martin, Luis Milla, Mauro Arambarri, Davinchi; Adrian Liso, Uche

Unavailable: Juanmi (Injured)

Questionable: Abqar (Ineligible), Kiko Femenia (Ineligible)

Valencia vs Getafe prediction

The so-called Jose Bordalas derby has often led to quite aggressive and hostile games between these two sides. Valencia try and play a very pressing and aggressive, attacking style under Carlos Corberan, but that requires on some fluency, and Getafe will head to Valencia seeking to completely disrupt that system. Valencia perhaps lack goals, and Getafe can make it awkward for anyone, so siding with the visitors to continue their strong start to the season would seem a good value bet for this one.

Valencia vs Getafe tip: Double chance – Getafe to win or draw
