In the first-leg of this UEFA Europa League first qualifying round tie at the neutral venue of the Lublin Arena in Poland, Dynamo Kyiv and Universitatea Cluj shared a goalless draw.

Since then, Uni Cluj have succumbed to a penalty shootout defeat to Universitatea Craiova in Supercopa Romaniei. Dynamo Kyiv have struggled to maintain a strong quality in the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine back in 2022.

Another low-scoring encounter does appear likely with Dynamo expected to try and keep things tight at the Cluj Arena in Romania.
