Wang Cong: "The Joker" returns in the hopes of edging closer to an MMA rematch with the current champ

An aggressive striker who just so happens to hold a victory in kickboxing over current flyweight queen, Valentina Shevchenko, Wang Cong (8-1) returns for her fifth UFC appearance since joining the promotion in 2024. The rare WMMA fighter with legitimate one-shot KO power, “The Joker” underlined this state of affairs with a vicious first-round knockout over Victoria Leonardo in her UFC debut. While her momentum was halted somewhat by a technical submission defeat to Gabriella Fernandes in her next appearance, the Road to UFC veteran has rebounded with consecutive decision victories over Bruna Brasil and Ariane Lipski da Silva to push her UFC record to 3-1.

Eduarda Moura: Can the Brazilian prospect maintain her undefeated record since moving up to flyweight?

Arriving in the promotion via a submission victory on the Contender Series back in 2023, Eduarda Moura (12-1) has yet to translate her near 100% finishing rate from the regional scene into consistent UFC stoppages, despite turning in a 3-1 record since joining the world’s premiere MMA organization. However, “Ronda" has been perfect outside of a decision setback to Denise Gomes, earning victories over Monserrat Ruiz, Veronica Hardy, and former title challenger, Lauren Murphy. Regrettably, her success has come with a slight asterisk; the 31 year old Brazilian missed weight at strawweight on two occasions, precipitating a jump to 125 pounds for her two most recent appearances.

Wang Cong vs Eduarda Moura prediction

Cong is a considerable favorite with the oddsmakers here, but there's a solid argument to be made that the current line is way too wide. "The Joker" may have a kickboxing win over Valentina Shevchenko and a UFC highlight reel KO to her name, but she also has the same UFC record as her current opponent.

Furthermore, it's not outrageous to suggest that Moura has faced better levels of competition than her Chinese opponent since joining the promotion. Veronica Hardy is a notably well rounded fringe contender at flyweight and Lauren Murphy was a former title challenger, even if that says more about the lack of elite fighters at this weight class than "Lucky's" skillset.

Moreover, Moura's only UFC setback is a contentious split decision loss to Denise Gomes; a close result against a fighter who is currently 6-2 in the promotion, following a brutal weight cut that forced her to change weight classes. She won't even be undersized for this one, clocking in with near identical stats in height and reach. The Brazilian also has a nasty ground game, an ill omen for Cong given the manner of her sole defeat in the promotion to date.

"The Joker" is undoubtedly capable of landing a murderous KO blow, but decision nods over the limited likes of Bruna Brasil and Ariane Lipski dos Santos aren't enough to indicate that this is the fight's most likely outcome. Sound the alarm bells, there's an upset brewing here.

Prediction: Eduarda Moura to win
