Alice Ardelean: Can the Romanian striker earn a third successive "W?"
Standing at 2-2 across four fights with the promotion to date, Alice Ardelean (11-7) looks to push her promotional record above .500 come Saturday night. Known for her impressive output on the feet, the Romanian typically has the most success when she’s able to lean on her volume striking to earn a decision victory. Despite starting life in the UFC at 0-2 after dropping decisions to Shauna Bannon and Melissa Martinez, the Romanian has rebounded with back to back decisions over Rayanne dos Santos and Monserrat Conejo Ruiz, the former of which earned her a FOTN bonus.
Polyana Viana: The Brazilian fights for her job and looks to snap a three fight losing streak
Staring down the barrel of a fourth consecutive defeat, there’s a strong chance that a loss on Saturday will spell the end of the UFC road for Polyana Viana (13-8). While she’s known for possessing a 100% finish rate in victory, it’s been finding the victory that’s been the problem for “Dama de Ferro” as of late, with Viana dropping her last three results in decisive fashion. Compounding matters for the Brazilian veteran, she’s looked nothing short of atrocious throughout that streak, landing just 22 strikes in three fights and losing by finish on every single occasion.
Alice Ardelean vs Polyana Viana prediction
With the greatest of respect, Viana shouldn’t still be on the UFC roster. “Dama de Ferro” is riding a three fight losing streak where she’s been finished in every defeat, with her promotional record standing at 4-7. She hasn’t earned a victory since 2022 and that came over Jinh Yu Frey, a fighter who washed out of the promotion off the back of a four fight losing streak.
At just 11-7 across her entire career, Ardelean isn’t much better, but at least she’s currently riding a solid two fight win streak. She’s proven entirely incapable of finishing UFC caliber opposition since making the step up from the regional circuit, but she’s proved that she’s good enough to earn a decision over the bottom of the division.
Unless the Romanian literally throws herself into a Viana arm bar, she looks to be the far safer bet here. The pick is for Ardelean to lean on her impressive volume to outland Viana across three rounds, with the possibility that a well-timed takedown could open up an opportunity for her to find a finish on the ground.
Prediction: Alice Ardelean to win
