Marcus McGhee: The MMA Lab prospect looks to reinsert his name into contention
MMA Lab standout, Marcus McGhee (11-2) makes his second walk of 2026, following a convincing decision victory over John Yannis in June. 5-1 since joining the UFC, “The Maniac” rattled off a four fight win streak with three finishes to earn a shot at Petr Yan. While he came up short against “No Mercy” via decision, McGhee impressed in defeat, solidifying his status as one of the tougher outs in the bantamweight division. The 36 year old American is extremely well-rounded and durable with powerful boxing, boasting excellent cardio and takedown defence to boot.
Anthony Romero: A dangerous debutant looking to impress and upset the oddsmakers
Called in to replace Benardo Sopaj on less than a week’s notice, Anthony Romero (7-2, 1NC) finds himself in the biggest spot of his career come Saturday night. A dangerous finisher with only a single win by decision, the 26 year old American fights out Black House MMA and is coming off a brutal 25 second KO victory that earned him the UNF bantamweight title. An undefeated amateur, “The Bully” has only ever been finished once as a pro, with that loss coming all the way back when he debuted in 2021.
Who do you think will win at UFC 332?
Open poll and resultsMarcus McGhee vs Anthony Romero prediction
I was picking McGhee to beat Benardo Sopaj; I don’t think that an unproven regional prospect has what it takes to upset “The Maniac” here.
Romero is a dangerous finisher and will enter the cage with a “nothing to lose” mindset, but this is easily the best opponent that he’s ever faced by a considerable stretch. His best win is former LFA standout, Yuma Horiuchi, while McGhee is one fight removed from fighting Petr Yan. He may have come up short, but it was a competitive scrap, with McGhee even taking a round off “No Mercy” in the process.
While he’s not the tallest, McGhee is a massive bantamweight and I believe he’s going to have a significant edge in physicality and presence come Saturday night. “The Maniac” has excellent output on the feet and superb takedown defence, meaning that there isn’t a clear path to victory where Romero can look to exploit a shortcoming in McGhee’s game. He’s never been knocked down in six UFC bouts and is capable of finishing the fight in an instant if “The Bully” gets overly reckless or gases out.
I see McGhee’s experience, toughness, and physicality all combining to make this a rough night for Romero. “The Maniac” either wins a comfortable decision or scores a finish as Romero begins to flag.
Prediction: Marcus McGhee to win
