Tunisia preview: Steady Tunisians

Having eased through CAF qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer, the Tunisians head into Morocco as one of the favourites for the competition, under the management of Sami Trabelsi.

The first team of the Eagles of Carthage, as they are nicknamed, outside of the recent FIFA Arab Cup, most recently shared an impressive 1-1 draw with Brazil in a friendly at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille last month.

Uganda preview: Steady but average

In Group G of African qualifying for the 48-team tournament, Uganda performed well as they finished second in their group, behind Algeria, with an impressive record of six victories and four defeats.

The Ugandans have a limited squad and are currently ranked 85th in the world, having declined in the recent edition, coached by former Congo, Guinea, Burkina Faso and Gambia boss Paul Put, who took charge in 2023.

Tunisia team news: Midfield strength

The strength of this Tunisia side comes in the middle of the park with Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri alongside the likes of Ellyes Skhiri, Ferjani Sassi and Ismael Gharbi.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Dahmen; Meriah, Talbi, Bronn; Valery, Mejbri, Sassi, Skhiri, Gharbi; Saad, Achouri

Uganda team news: Limited squad

Having announced an initial provisional 30-man squad, Charles Lukwago and David Owori were the players left out for Uganda ahead of their trip to Morocco.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Onyango; Capradossi, Awany, Muleme; Sibbick, Aucho, Semakula, Obita; Mutyaba; Mato, Ikpeazu

Tunisia vs Uganda prediction

African football is often very low-scoring. Tunisia play a counter-attacking style whereby they ensure they soak up pressure effectively and then take advantage of few chances but a lot of dominance and control. Uganda play the same way, and have added strength in defence with Toby Sibbick and Jordan Obita, but are very limited in the final third with a Tunisian victory to be expected in this Group C opener.

Tunisia vs Uganda tip: Tunisia to win & under 3.5 goals
