Tunisia endured a miserable FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in which they conceded 12 goals in three defeats against Sweden, Japan and the Netherlands with Herve Renard coming in to replace Sabri Lamouchi after their opener against the Swedes. He has now been replaced himself by Mouin Chaabani.

They now face a Uganda side that collected just one point from three group stage matches in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco with the Ugandans having not played since then.
