Torino preview: Terrible start for Torino

Following the departure of Ivan Juric in the summer of 2024, Torino continued to stagnate under the management of former Venezia boss Paolo Vanoli last season, and he has now been replaced by former Lazio boss Marco Baroni in Turin.

On the opening day of the campaign, Torino suffered an annihilation at the hands of an impressive Internazionale side at San Siro. Alessandro Bastoni, Lautaro Martinez and Ange-Yvan Bonny all got one, with Marcus Thuram notching a brace for the Nerazzurri.

Fiorentina preview: UECL exploits

In the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, Fiorentina were losers in the UEFA Europa Conference League final, before they then reached the semi-finals last season, and they have now reached the league phase of that tournament this year.

They completed a 6-2 aggregate victory over Ukrainian side Polissya Zhytomyr in the playoff round of the UEFA Europa Conference League, a few days after starting their Serie A season with a 1-1 draw against Cagliari in Sardinia.

Torino team news: A few injuries

Torino are dealing with a few injury issues for this one, and they are all at the back too, with Ardian Ismajli sidelined alongside both Saba Sazonov and Perr Schuurs.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Franco Israel; Lazaro, Saul Coco, Masina, Biraghi; Casadei, Ilkhan, Gineitis; Ngonge, Giovanni Simeone, Vlasic

Questionable:

Fiorentina team news: Full strength Fiorentina

Fiorentina were able to rest and rotate in their second-leg against Polissya, and I Viola will be expected to return to their strongest possible eleven as they clash with Torino.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): David de Gea; Comuzzo, Pongracic, Ranieri; Dodo, Sohm, Fagioli, Gosens; Gudmundsson, Ndour; Kean

Unavailable: Kouame (Injured)

Questionable:

Torino vs Fiorentina prediction

Torino boss Marco Baroni has proven himself to be a very good manager for Serie A, and the club have made some half-decent signings to refresh the squad over the summer, but there is a feeling that they could well slide themselves towards a relegation battle this season. They face a Fiorentina side that will likely get themselves on the front foot and play with their natural verve, and they are firm favourites, despite their European exploits.

Torino vs Fiorentina tip: Fiorentina to win
