Tereza Valentova reached her second successive semi-final at the Prague Open as she knocked out defending champion Marie Bouzkova in a three set classic. Bouzkova was attempting to win the title for a third time and comfortably took the lead after the first set, but Valentova hit back and held her nerve in the deciding set tiebreak to win 2-6 6-4 7-6 (6).
She will now face Daria Snigur. The Ukrainian was ruthless in her quarter-final match as she thrashed Lanlana Tararudee. The eighth seed did not drop a game in the first set and maintained her level to win 6-0 6-3. She is through to her second tour-level semi-final of the season.
Valentova leads the head-to-head 1-0, but this is their first meeting on the WTA Tour and on clay. The Czech will have plenty of home support on her side, and she has enough firepower and overall quality to advance through to the final.
