VICTORIA AZARENKA VS NADIA PODOROSKA PREDICTION
Two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka set her best showing here with a semi-final exit in 2013, the same as world number 59 Nadia Podoroska achieved in the best campaign of her career four years ago.
34-year-old Azarenka has enjoyed one of her better starts to a new season this decade so far with runs to the semi-finals in Miami and the quarter-finals in two other Masters events in Qatar and more recently Rome, the latter of which came as a surprise on her weakest surface.
Victory over Maria Sakkari in Rome says the Belarussian is in a good enough moment in these conditions to make a real tilt for the second week but 27-year-old Podoroska is in her element on clay and she will be desperate to impress here again after a severe injury hampered her previous progress. Azarenka has won both of their previous matches in comfortable straight sets but back her to win outright in this first encounter on clay.
