World number 81 Yulia Putintseva is another who should be improved from this moment on with skin in the game. The 28-year-old dropped her first set to Clara Tauson on Wednesday before levelling things in the second but she rode her luck a little as Tauson was forced to retire injured after that. Putintseva is capable of much better tennis than her current WTA world ranking suggests but she has seen more troughs than peaks this season.
