THE PREDICTION

World number 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Alexander Zverev in two tight sets on Thursday to put together his best run of the season, at least his most convincing, on familiar ground. The 25-year-old almost let it slip against Zverev, losing a 5-0 lead in the second set before rallying well in the tiebreak, but fighting back from adversity will thoroughly boost his confidence here in Monte-Carlo – where he claimed both of his Masters titles back-to-back in 2021 and 2022.

World number 17 Karen Khachanov should not be underestimated in this potential thriller after three excellent results over Cam Norrie, Francisco Cerundolo and fourth seed Daniil Medvedev. The 27-year-old’s victory over fellow Russian Medvedev is a significant one, and his best of the season so far, but a confident Tsitsipas is a far tougher test in these conditions. Khachanov beat Tsitsipas for the first time at the Miami Open last season but the Greek convincingly leads their head-to-head 7-1 (1-0 on clay) to look the favourite. Back Tsitsipas to win outright.

TIP: STEFANOS TSITSIPAS TO WIN
