Two-time Monte-Carlo champion Novak Djokovic continues his impressive streak this week with a straight-sets victory over Alex de Minaur, casting aside recent years of poor form at this tournament. The world number one will take the clay swing even more seriously this season as his last chance at finally winning a Gold Medal at the Olympics will come on the surface this summer in Paris, just a few months on from Roland-Garros. World number 10 Casper Ruud trails the Serb 0-5 in their one-sided head-to-head, with his most recent defeat coming in last summer’s Roland-Garros final. The 25-year-old is one of the very best clay-courters around, finishing runner-up in Paris in back-to-back seasons, but there has been a clear gulf in class against Djokovic, and the likes of Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, at this level. Ruud overcame Ugo Humbert in three sets on Friday to look competitive in this clash but back Djokovic to exert dominance once again to win in straight sets.
