THE PREDICTION
World number 70 Jaume Munar beat Bernabe Zapata Miralles in straight sets on Tuesday but he will face a tougher compatriot here in Albert Ramos-Vinolas, even if the elder Spaniard is struggling for form. 36-year-old Ramos-Vinolas was an ever-present in the quarter-finals or above across the South American swing for many years, winning his most recent of four ATP titles in Cordoba in 2022, but the past 12 months have been poor on his favoured clay to suggest he is nearing the twilight of his career. 26-year-old Munar is a tough player to back with confidence as one of the more erratic performers on tour but he beat Ramos-Vinolas in three sets for the first time last summer, clawing one back in a 1-3 deficit to the veteran, and taking him to earn at least a set as the likelier victor seems the sensible way to lean.
