As expected, an in-form Afghanistan were simply too good for Zimbabwe in the opening T20i of what is a three-match set, winning by 37 runs in the end. Once again, the bowlers stole the show, with Afghanistan having now bowled their opponents out in each of their last four white-ball fixtures. Zimbabwe cannot score effectively enough against them without losing wickets.
However, that doesn’t mean that Afghanistan’s batters have taken a back seat, as they continue to score plenty of runs on these UAE pitches. They are well equipped to handle the conditions and the depth within their line-up is particularly pleasing. Therefore, it would be a surprise if Afghanistan didn’t double their series lead.
