THE PREDICTION

The Miami crowd will be desperate to see Florida native Danielle Collins lift the title this weekend after announcing that she will retire at the end of the season and she has looked hell-bent on delivering that all fortnight. The 30-year-old has played with renewed vigour since setting a date for the end of her career and she has blasted past each of her last four opponents after surviving an early scare in the first round, coming back from a set down to beat Bernarda Pera. Beating Caroline Garcia, who ousted Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff, sees the American through to the semi-finals here for a second time, after losing to Jelena Ostapenko in 2018, but Ekaterina Alexandrova looks ready to put up her toughest test yet after back-to-back upsets over Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula.

29-year-old Alexandrova has enjoyed a fierce start to 2024, upsetting Elena Rybakina in Adelaide and finishing runner-up to the aforementioned Ostapenko in Linz, but victory over world number one Swiatek has to make her the slight favourite on form whilst home advantage heavily favours her opponent. Expect short points between two heavy hitters amidst a pulsating atmosphere in Miami but back Collins, who will throw everything at this final appearance at her home tournament, to edge through to the final on the crowd's support.

TIP: DANIELLE COLLINS TO WIN
