THE PREDICTION

World number eight Casper Ruud is so far making an excellent defence of his most recent of 10 ATP titles, handily beating Marton Fucsovics and Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets to remain the clear favourite in Estoril. The 25-year-old has already reached two finals this season, finishing runner-up to an inspired Jordan Thompson at Los Cabos and to defending champion Alex de Minaur in Acapulco, but he is the main man at this level on clay – on which nine of his 10 titles have been claimed. One of those came against world number 77 Pedro Martinez in Kitzbuhel back in 2021, where the Spaniard took a set before defeat in their only previous encounter. The 26-year-old beat Richard Gasquet in straight sets on Friday to back-up excellent results over Roberto Bautista Agut and Daniel Altmaier, his best run in some time, but this should be several steps too far. Back Ruud reach the final, probably in two.

TIP: CASPER RUUD TO WIN
