THE PREDICTION

This is a tough call between former number 26 Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova and former number 29 Aliaksandra Sasnovich, with the latter enjoying a healthy 5-1 lead but next-to-no recent form to speak of. 30-year-old Sasnovich qualified handily this week, conceding just nine games to do so, but she has failed to qualify for seven tournaments so far this season and she is yet to win a match at tour level anywhere. 29-year-old Schmiedlova is currently ranked 67th after a recent run to the semi-finals of the Austin Open and she has enjoyed encouraging wins over Diane Parry and Sofia Kenin on her favoured clay in recent weeks to look capable of lessening the gulf of their record. However, Sasnovich has won each of their last three matches on clay to lead 3-0 on the surface. Two of those three saw sets go both ways so take Schmiedlova to earn at least a set to leave this tough one up to chance.

TIP: ANNA-KAROLINA SCHMIEDLOVA TO WIN A SET
