Rennes preview: Strong Rennes
Stade Rennais begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots. They have been very good since the appointment of Franck Haise in the spring and will be aiming to break into the top four.
Rennes did, though, succumb to their first defeat of the season a few weeks ago and emphatically so as they were hammered by four goals to nil at Parc OL against Olympique Lyonnais.
Auxerre preview: Finding form
Over the summer, former Southampton boss Will Still replaced Christophe Pelissier in the Auxerre dugout and defensive disorganisation caused three successive losses to begin their campaign.
However, they regrouped and headed into the break on the back of a slender 1-0 victory over Nice before beating Stade Brest by two goals to one with both of those games at Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps.
Rennes team news: Fully fit
Rennes return to action with a fully fit and available squad with no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues ahead of the visit of Auxerre this weekend.
Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Samba; Frankowski, Ait Boudlal, Cresswell, Merlin; Rongier; Eliezer Mayenda, Camara, Thomasson, Nordin; Dia

Auxerre team news: Makosso suspended

Rennes vs Auxerre prediction
Auxerre showed defensive improvement in those two victories a few weeks ago, having previously conceded 11 goals in the opening three games of the campaign. Rennes are one of the best teams to watch in France and will be frustrated to have even dropped points this season, let alone in the manner that they have, given that their best has been scintillating. The break came at a good time for the hosts and a bad time for the visitors – and that may be shown in this one at Roazhon Park.
