Nice preview: Neglected Nice

Nice have been neglected and poorly run off the pitch, bleeding into matters on the pitch and the fact that they needed an end of season promotion/relegation play-off to eventually steer themselves to safety last season.

They were winless in their opening four matches this year, too, but did manage a surprise 2-1 victory over Lille in their most recent outing with summer signing Mohamed Amoura scoring the decisive goal mid-way through the second half.

Strasbourg preview: Entertaining Strasbourg

Following the departure of Liam Rosenior in January and then Gary O’Neil over the summer, Strasbourg have begun a new era with impressive young Portuguese coach Hugo Oliveira, who has already enjoyed an entertaining start to life in the Alsace region.

In their five Ligue 1 matches, there have been a total of 20 goals with Strasbourg most recently succumbing to defeat against former boss Rosenior and his Paris FC side at Stade Jean-Bouin a few weeks ago.

Nice team news: Nothing fresh

Nice have no fresh injury issues for this one with defenders Moise Bombito and Antoine Mendy remaining sidelined alongside Morgan Sanson and summer signing Laurent Abergel.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Diouf; Abdelmonem, Ndayishimiye, Mandza; Clauss, Coulibaly, Witsel, Nkounkou; Hein, Amoura, Wahi

Unavailable: Moise Bombito (Injured), Mendy (Injured), Sanson (Injured), Abergel (Injured)

Questionable:

Strasbourg team news: Panichelli still out

Last season’s top scorer Joaquin Panichelli has been unavailable since the spring and he remains sidelined with Martial Godo also a doubt for the visitors as he works his way back to full fitness.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Jorgensen; Antwi, Jeyland Mitchell, Doukoure, Oso; El Mourabet, Sousa; Yassine, Nanasi, Reyna; Jacobo Ortega

Unavailable: Panichelli (Injured)

Questionable: Godo (Fitness)

Nice vs Strasbourg prediction

No team has scored more than Strasbourg so far this season and only Auxerre and Troyes have conceded more than them, marking them out as the entertainers in Ligue 1 at this early stage. Nice, who scored two of their three goals against Lille in their last game and one of those was an own goal, will take some optimism from that that they will at least score with home advantage but Strasbourg to have to remain firm favourites.

Nice vs Strasbourg tip: Strasbourg to win & both teams to score
