The 26-year-old will be extra keen to thrive on the clay swing this season as he gears up for the defence of his Gold Medal at the Paris Olympics, which will be played at Roland-Garros, and another shot at a maiden Grand Slam title after coming close to making the final in 2022 before a serious ankle injury against eventual champion Rafael Nadal. World number 44 Sebastian Ofner beat Dan Evans handily on Monday to look a threat, particularly as Zverev can often start tournaments sluggishly before finding his feet, but the world number five leads their head-to-head 3-0 without yet dropping a set to the Austrian.
