Suriname team news: Lonwijk could miss out again

After not featuring at all in Suriname’s opening group stage fixture vs Costa Rica, Justin Lonwijk could miss out again here for his country due to injury. Expect QPR’s Kenneth Paal to be marshalling the midfield once more.

Predicted XI (5-3-2): Vaessen, Dijksteel, Van Gelderen, Malone, Pinas, Haps; Jubitana, Paal, Margaret; Kerk, Hasselbaink

Unavailable:

Questionable: Lonwijk (Fitness)

Mexico team news: Will check on Reyes

After being taken off at half-time against the Dominican Republic, there are doubts over the fitness of centre-back Israel Reyes ahead of this one with Jesus Orozco a defender who could potentially fill in if necessary. Vega could start on the wing over Orbelin Pineda.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Malagon; Jorge Sanchez, Montes, Orozco, Gallardo; Alvarado, Alvarez, Lira, Vega; Jimenez, Gimenez

Unavailable:

Questionable: Reyes (Fitness)

Suriname vs Mexico prediction

Despite an excellent attacking performance, Suriname fell short in heart-breaking fashion against Costa Rica, losing 4-3 thanks to a penalty in the 13th minute of second half stoppage time, the second penalty in which they had conceded over the course of the game. It left an offense who had racked up three goals on the losing side and with a mountain to climb in the race for knockout qualification.

Whilst Suriname are a tough team with real heart, it’s difficult to see a backline who gave up four goals last time out keep Mexico’s formidable front pairing quiet and that superior firepower should be what powers Mexico to victory for a second consecutive group game here.
