South Africa vs Cameroon prediction

South Africa arrive in this last-16 tie in good spirits after finishing second in Group B, beating Angola and Zimbabwe and only narrowly losing to Egypt. Hugo Broos has built a settled, hard-working side that enjoys plenty of the ball – over 60% average possession in the group – and carries a genuine attacking threat through the likes of Lyle Foster and Oswin Appollis.

The main concern is a leaky back line, as Bafana Bafana conceded in all three group matches.

Cameroon, five-time AFCON champions came through a tough Group F unbeaten, with wins over Gabon and Mozambique either side of a draw with Côte d'Ivoire.

They have found the net in every match so far, but their attacking output has been more efficient than prolific, and this cautious, pragmatic approach can lead to tight scorelines. With that in mind, consider under 2.5 goals in this one.

South Africa vs Cameroon tip: Under 2.5 goals
