Somalia do appear to be one of the weakest sides in African football, and that has been shown in FIFA World Cup qualification as they take on Guinea this weekend.

Key Stats

  • Somalia have won only one of their previous 19 World Cup qualifying matches (D4 L14). Their only victory was a 1-0 win against Zimbabwe in September 2019.
  • Guinea have won only two of their last 15 World Cup qualifying matches (D5 L8).

Somalia vs Guinea Prediction

In CAF qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Somalians have picked up just one point from their six matches so far. They have scored just three goals in those games with 11 goals conceded. Their most recent outing saw them suffer a 2-0 loss to Botswana to sit rock-bottom in Group G.

They now face a Guinea side that have perhaps underwhelmed in this qualifying campaign, as they finish five points behind runners’ up and the playoff spot and eight points behind Algeria at the top. The Guineans most recently suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Uganda during the March international break.

Somalia are a very average side and they lack quality all over. Guinea will be expected to win but they are hardly convincing themselves at the moment, so it should be a low-scoring encounter.

Somalia vs Guinea Tip: Guinea to win & under 3.5 goals
