Sevilla preview: Struggle for Sevilla to be expected

Sevilla have been struggling for the last couple of seasons and the Andalusians will be expected to be involved in a relegation battle in La Liga once again this campaign, now under the management of Argentine coach Matias Almeyda.

Los Nervionenses began the 2025/26 La Liga season with a 3-2 defeat to Basque giants Athletic Club at San Mames last weekend, with Sevilla outplayed for large parts, albeit coming from 2-0 down to get level mid-way through the second-half.

Getafe preview: Steady start for Getafe

Jose Bordalas, who is in his second stint in charge of Getafe, always has to be concerned that his aggressive and overly defensive style of football could lead to his teams stagnating, but based on last week that is not the case for this season.

On the opening day of the campaign, Getafe managed to defeat Celta Vigo by two goals to nil at Balaidos in Galicia. Adrian Liso opened the scoring for Getafe early on in the second-half, before Christantus Uche doubled their lead about 25 minutes later.

Sevilla team news: A few issues

There are a few issues for Sevilla to deal with this weekend as there are a few confirmed absentees through the spine, such as Tanguy Nianzou, Joan Jordan and Adnan Januzaj.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Nyland; Juanlu, Castrin, Kike Salas, Jose Angel Carmona; Gudelj, Agoume; Lukebakio, Sow, Stanis Idumbo; Adams

Unavailable: Nianzou (Injured), Joan Jordan (Injured), Januzaj (Injured)

Questionable: Bade (Injured), Ramon Martinez (Injured), Vargas (Injured)

Getafe team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns for Getafe as Juanmi and Borja Mayoral remain doubtful, whilst new signings Abdel Abqar and Kiko Femenia are in a race to get registered.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Djene, Diego Rico; Ismael Bekhoucha, Mario Martin, Luis Milla, Mauro Arambarri, Davinchi; Adrian Liso, Uche

Unavailable:

Questionable: Abqar (Ineligible), Kiko Femenia (Ineligible), Juanmi (Injured), Borja Mayoral (Injured)

Sevilla vs Getafe prediction

Sevilla’s squad is small and significantly lacking in quality, with only Dodi Lukebakio seemingly their source of goals or attacking thrust on a consistent basis. Financial issues have hit and the second-tier may well be beckoning. When you are feeling fragile, you don’t want to be coming up against Jose Bordalas’ Getafe and it would be a good value bet to side with the visitors in a likely low-scoring affair at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Sevilla vs Getafe tip: Double chance – Getafe to win or draw & under 3.5 goals
